Privacy policy

In short

  • You can play Coinbo without an account. Your progress then stays on your iPhone, and the game only sends anonymous usage statistics.
  • An account is made with Sign in with Apple. Coinbo asks Apple for neither your name nor your email address.
  • Your username, avatar and scores can be seen by other players, on the high scores and in the Arcade.
  • Coinbo has no ads, doesn't track you across apps or websites, and never sells anything about you.
  • You can delete your account in the game at any time, and what's kept with it goes too.

Who's responsible

Coinbo is made in Sweden by Daniel Block, under the name And Another. Daniel Block is responsible for the personal data described here: its "controller", in the words of the EU's data protection law, the GDPR.

Questions and requests about your data go to hello@andanother.app.

Playing without an account

Your coins, progress, best scores and settings are saved on your iPhone and nowhere else. Deleting the app deletes them.

The game still sends the anonymous usage statistics described under Usage statistics below.

If you make an account

Accounts are optional. One keeps your progress safe if you change phones, and lets you play other people in the Arcade and appear on the high scores. For an account, Coinbo keeps:

  • an identifier Apple gives Coinbo for you, which tells Coinbo it's you when you sign in again. It isn't your Apple ID or your email address;
  • a token from Apple, stored encrypted and used only to end Coinbo's link to your Apple ID when you delete your account;
  • the username and avatar you choose, when you made the account, and when you last changed your username;
  • your progress: the coins in your piggy bank, your best scores, today's and of all time, your stars, your power-ups and which you've switched off, and which of your phones last saved it;
  • your games in the Arcade: their rounds and scores, the matches they were part of and how those ended, and your arcade rating;
  • for each phone you're signed in on, a scrambled copy of its sign-in and when it was last used, so you stay signed in.

What other players see

Your username and score appear on the high scores, today's and the all-time top ten, which anyone can see. In the Arcade, players who take you on or whom you take on see your username, avatar and arcade rating, and the rounds of the game they're playing against.

Please don't use your real name as your username.

Notifications

Coinbo can tell you when someone takes on a game you left waiting in the Arcade, and, if you ask it to, when someone takes your first place on the high scores. For that, if you allow notifications, it keeps your phone's notification address from Apple (its push token) with your sign-in, how far your phone's clock is from UTC, so that notifications at night arrive silently, and whether you've asked for the high-score alert. Notifications are sent through Apple's Push Notification service.

Reminders about an unfinished arcade game are set on your phone and never leave it.

You can turn notifications off in the iPhone's Settings, and the high-score alert on Coinbo's account screen.

Help messages

When you write to us with Need help?, we get your message and, if you give one, your email address, so we can answer you. Along with it come the app's version and language, your iPhone's model and iOS version, the last error the game ran into, and your account, if you're signed in.

A message is deleted 90 days after we've closed it, or with your account if that's sooner. If you email us instead, we keep the conversation as long as it's needed to help you.

Usage statistics

To see how Coinbo is played and what to improve, the game sends events to Coinbo's own statistics server: when the game's opened and for how long, when a game starts and ends, with its mode, score, time, stars or level and the power-ups in play, games played in the Arcade, but never against whom, power-ups bought, or switched off and on, at the Bank, and accounts made, signed in to or deleted.

Each event carries a random number made up for this installation of the game, the app's and iOS's versions, your iPhone's model and the app's language. That number isn't linked to your account, your Apple ID or your advertising identifier, so the statistics can't tell who you are.

What Coinbo doesn't collect

Coinbo doesn't collect your name, your email address, other than one you give with a help message, your phone number, contacts, photos, location or advertising identifier. It has no ads and no in-app purchases.

Coinbo's servers don't store IP addresses. Cloudflare, which runs them, uses them briefly to deliver data and to stop abuse, such as too many sign-ins from one place.

Who handles data for Coinbo

  • Cloudflare runs Coinbo's servers and stores the account data, help messages and statistics described here. Cloudflare's privacy policy
  • Apple provides Sign in with Apple and delivers notifications. If you choose to share crash reports or feedback through TestFlight or the App Store, Apple passes those on too. Apple's privacy policy
  • Google serves this website, with Firebase Hosting. The site has no cookies or statistics, but like any web host, Google sees your IP address when you visit. Firebase's privacy information

Cloudflare and Google may handle data outside the EU. When they do, it's protected the way the GDPR requires, with the EU's standard contractual clauses.

Why Coinbo may use your data

  • Your account and the online features you use, because they're what you've asked Coinbo for (GDPR article 6(1)(b)).
  • Notifications, because you've agreed to them. You can take that back at any time, as described above (article 6(1)(a)).
  • Usage statistics, help messages and keeping the servers safe, because of Coinbo's legitimate interests in improving the game, answering you and stopping abuse (article 6(1)(f)). You can object to these by emailing us.

How long it's kept

  • Your account and everything kept with it: until you delete the account.
  • Help messages: 90 days after we've closed them.
  • The servers' logs of errors and refused requests: a few days.
  • Usage statistics: as long as they're useful for improving the game. They can't be linked to you.

To delete your account, tap Sign in, or your username, at the top left of Coinbo's home screen, then Delete account. Your account, username, avatar, progress, sign-ins, notification settings and help messages are deleted straight away, and Coinbo asks Apple to end its link to your Apple ID. Games you left waiting in the Arcade are removed. Matches that were already decided stay in the other players' results, with you shown as "A deleted player".

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, and have it corrected or deleted. You can also ask us to limit how it's used, object to how it's used, and get it in a form you can take elsewhere. Email hello@andanother.app, and we'll answer within a month.

You can change your username and avatar, and delete your account, in the game at any time.

If you think we've handled your data wrongly, you can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection, IMY, or to the data protection authority where you live.

Children

Coinbo suits all ages, and the Journey and Endless can be played without an account. Accounts are for players aged 13 and over, and younger players should ask a parent first. If you think a child has made an account without permission, email us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too.
